INTENTION: to have fun as well as the pleasure of serious and significant questioning and learning, to set up a framework for an exploration through verbal, physical, emotional worlds using

  • daily group conversations about the journey,
  • contact improv dance work.
GOALS:
  • to consciously blaze a path into the New Paradigm together;
  • to generate group creative synergy to vision the New Culture;
  • to become conscious of what underlying elements go together to make it useful; and
  • identify how other versions of the same elements can be used by other people to create their own maps and compasses, if they prefer another version.
LEARNINGS:
  • everybody getting what we really want in relationships and in life without anyone ever being wrong;
  • relationships that move beyond guilt and defensiveness into mutual trust and high states of enjoyment;
  • appreciating differences and relishing conflict as part of learning;
  • enjoying conscious community experiences of interdependence and creative synergy; and
  • all this learning is relevant to the state of the world.
OUTCOMES:
  • truth-building
  • transparency
  • compassion
  • a shift in consciousness by exploring self-awareness of what's driving us as individuals, new ways of being in relationship, and what fears and filters we carry into relationships.
  • The Conversation and Contact Dance are similar in that they foster trust, openness, willingness to risk, acceptance of differences, discovering and noticing the assumptions that create  resistance and fear, fostering transparency, compassion... love.  Contact improv is an intense awareness practice within a constantly changing interdependent relationship.  If the dance is a metaphor for all relationships within a complex shifting universe, we can learn how to get more of what we deeply want in our lives, for ourselves and for the world we live in.

OUR MAP involves exploring the Vicious and the Benign Circles (systems of thought, feeling and response that underly our experience).  Seeing and exploring simple visual maps of how these systems operate has a liberating effect of not taking the dilemmas we get into so personally or so seriously, of being able to switch from a "big problem" to an "interesting challenge" orientation.

ISLAND EXCURSIONS:

  • clear, warm ponds heated by lava vents
  • steam-vent saunas
  • jungle treks
  • flowing lava fields
  • sea turtles
  • black sand nude beach
OPPORTUNITY:
Experience and touch WILDNESS both within oneself and in the surrounding environment as well as intimacy & relationship in many different forms and structures.  We will take a close look at the propriety (and fears) that suppress and inhibit our wildness...our core essences.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
Camping with access to a house for meeting space.
MEALS:
Vegetarian fare, with tuna & egg/cheese options.
TRANSPORTATION:
Transportation to/from airport and field trips.
PRICE:
In alignment with the NFNC value of keeping prices down to a minimum, you can enjoy this exploration event for only $300-$700 (sliding scale).  We are an all volunteer non-profit organization and whatever extra you pay goes right back into creating our experiment together and possibly generating another island event next year.
